I love Christmas because this time of the year gives us the most wonderful time to be on mission. Just think about it! God sent His only Son into this world on mission "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). Christmas is a key entry point for people into the church if we dare to take advantage of this opportunity.
Consider the many doors God opens only at Christmas here in Taylor County. The Walk Through Bethlehem and Christmas parade on December the 2nd and 3rd. Store audio systems play "Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come." Nativity sets are featured displays. Churches add and advertise worship options to accommodate the larger crowds. And even in our schools through our FCA huddles, I will be sharing the Christmas gospel.
Think about options that not only remind friends and family of the true Christmas message but give you and your church easy opportunities to share the entire gospel. Can people driving by see your family celebrates the birth of the Christ child?
At this time of year, who needs what you can offer? What can you give? This genuine concern can open a dialog about faith. Also giving to reach people around the world with the message of Christmas through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is always big time for my family and church.
I want to challenge each of our TBA churches to set and exceed a challenging goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Christmas involves giving! "For God so loved the world that He gave"...Now it's your turn because the mission task is not finished. Two thousand years after Jesus' birth there are still billions who have not heard.
Jesus said, "As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you" (John 20;21). Christmas reminds us that we are on mission! It's your task and mine now. What can we do? Like Jesus, we must GO, GIVE, and PRAY.
The mission field is not just across an ocean or on another continent: your mission field, like mine, may be as near as the person to whom you say, "Merry Christmas."

Lottie Moon Week of Prayer December 4th - December 10th

Lottie Moon was sent as a Southern Baptist missionary to China from 1873 to 1912. She saw firsthand the world's greatest problem - LOSTNESS. Meeting so many people who had never heard the gospel compelled her to write letters to American churches describing the need for a greater missionary presence. She pleaded for increased prayer and financial support to send and sustain more missionaries. This challenge became known as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®. Every year, Southern Baptist churches collect an offering to send and support missionaries to be steadfastly present among those who have never heard the gospel. Please be in prayer for our Missionaries and willing to give to help continue their work around the world.
